Guidance explaining how airlines and airports with fewer than 5 million passengers per annum can apply for start-up aid for new routes.
Airports and airlines can use this guidance and form to apply to the Department for Transport for start-up aid to support new air routes. The fund aims to support new routes from airports with fewer than 5 million passengers per annum.
Airports and airlines have until noon on 25 February 2015 to submit an application form.
The department will assess the bids against the draft protocol and appraisal framework.
Where new routes are deemed to comply with the draft protocol, applicants will be asked to submit further evidence. They will need to demonstrate the economic and strategic benefits that the route will generate.
Further guidance will be released about this process once a short-list of routes has been announced.
For airports with between 3 and 5 million passengers per annum, clearance will need to be sought from the EC before funding can be announced.
