Notarial and documentary services guide for Iraq
Documents, certificates, letters and notes available at the British Embassy, Baghdad and British Consulate, Erbil in Iraq.
Overview
There are two British missions in Iraq: the British Embassy in Baghdad and the British Consulate General in Erbil. Consular support is limited in Iraq and the Embassy in Baghdad and the Consulate General in Erbil. Our notarial service is limited to certifying copies of British passports.
If there is no specific formal requirement for a notarial service or certificate to be provided by the British mission, local notaries or lawyers can sometimes provide these services more conveniently, quickly and cheaply. Check with the relevant authority (eg the local authorities, registry offices, tax authorities, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Residency Office etc) either in the UK, Iraq or a third country that our consular certificate or service will be accepted.
We cannot confirm this information. Only the relevant authority can provide this confirmation. You can get examples of the wording of the consular certificates to present to the relevant authority for advice. Request a sample certificate from the local consular team.
We will not refund consular fees paid for certificates or notarial services that are not accepted by the requesting authority. Fees for consular certificates and documents are paid at the mission on the day of the appointment and can be paid in cash, US dollars only.
