Introduction
The British consulate in Jerusalem can provide a range of notarial and documentary services for British nationals. As of 20 May 2013, an appointment must be made for each service.
If there is no specific formal requirement for a notarial service or certificate to be provided by the British consulate, local notaries or lawyers can sometimes provide these services.
Check with the relevant authority (eg town hall/registry office/tax authorities/foreigners office, etc) either in the UK, Jerusalem or a third country, that our consular certificate or service will be accepted.
Your local British consulate cannot confirm this information, only the relevant authority can provide this confirmation. You can get examples of the wording of the consular certificates to present to the relevant authority for advice.

Refunds of consular fees are not given for certificates or notarial services that are not accepted by the requesting authority. Fees for consular certificates and documents are paid at the consulate on the day of the appointment and can be paid by credit card, debit card or in cash.

What to bring to your appointment

Payment
We accept payment by Visa, Visa Electron, MasterCard, or cash in the local currency on the day of the appointment.
Proof of address and identity
For all appointments for notarial services you will need to bring acceptable proof of your identity and address.
We accept passports as proof of identity.
We accept utility bills as proof of your address.
Administer an oath, affirmation or affidavit
This service is for people who need to swear an oath, make an affirmation or make an affidavit in front of a consular officer.
The consulate will not draft documents for you. First check with the consulate what format they need and then have the document drawn up or checked by a professional.

Make a certified copy of a document
This service is for customers who need certified photocopies of British passports

Witness a signature
This service is for customers who need to sign a document and have their signature witnessed by a consular officer. The document must be prepared before your appointment as we will not draft documents for you. We do not handle wills or probate, or witness deed polls.

Services provided elsewhere
We no longer witness life certificates for British nationals claiming a British pension abroad. Please refer to the list of people working in a recognised profession who can do this for you.
