Experimental statistics about PPE (personal protective equipment) deliveries and related documents.
The final publication of PPE distribution statistics (England) was on 13 April 2023.
The decision to stop publication was made by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) because the current policy to provide free PPE to all health, social care and public sector workers changed after 31 March 2023.
From 1 April 2023 PPE is provided until DHSC’s stocks are depleted or until the end of March 2024 (whichever is sooner). Therefore, reporting these numbers would not be comparable to previous releases and so would have limited relevance and usefulness for users.

These statistics cover PPE distribution in England. Each publication covers the data from the previous 3 months, as well as data collected since the first publication.
The frequency of the publication changed to quarterly from July 2022 with the last monthly publication out in April 2022. The final quarterly publication was published on 13 April 2023.
Since publication of ‘PPE distribution (England): 1 March to 31 March 2022’, improvements have been made to the methodology used to report on e-Portal orders. The improvements mean that the total PPE distributed each month and since the start of the data collection has changed.
An issue in processing the data which generates total volumes of PPE shipped to local authorities and local resilience forums (LRFs) was identified and resolved in the PPE distribution (England): quarterly update to 31 December 2022 publication. This minor issue also impacts the local authority and LRF figures in table 2 of the 6 historical publications from ‘PPE distribution (England): 1 December to 31 December 2021’ to ‘PPE distribution (England): quarterly update to 30 September 2022’.
