Overview
The British High Commission in Kingston provides a limited range of documentary services for British nationals in Jamaica.
For legal reasons, we cannot provide notarial services, administer oaths or take affidavits in Commonwealth countries. A standard letter is available to confirm we do not offer these services in Jamaica.
You must make an appointment for each service that requires your personal attendance.
If there is no specific formal requirement for a service or certificate to be provided by the British High Commission, local notaries or lawyers can often provide these services more conveniently, quickly and cheaply. Check with the relevant authority either in the UK, Jamaica or a third country, that our consular certificate or service will be accepted.
The British High Commission cannot confirm this information, only the relevant authority can provide this confirmation.
Refunds of consular fees are not given for certificates or documentary services that are not accepted by the requesting authority. Fees for consular services are paid at the British High Commission on the day of application and can be paid by credit or debit card or in cash (Jamaican Dollars only).
