Department for Transport Forthcoming Publications
Updated 11 June 2025
About this release
This schedule gives the planned publication dates of all the department’s statistical releases for the coming year.
Final publication dates are confirmed at least 4 weeks in advance of the release date, in line with the Code of Practice for Statistics.
Access to statistical releases are granted to certain individuals, 24-hours before the publication date. A list of those who have access are generally published on the routine statistical collection pages. This is in line with the department’s pre-release policy.
Notes on forthcoming publications
Following previous announced changes in October 2024, the department has further reviewed its planned publication schedule and would like to notify users of the following changes on which they are able to provide feedback.
-
The department will be postponing the release of the Port Freight Quarterly Statistics: April to June 2025. Originally scheduled for September 2025, they will now be published alongside the Port Freight Quarterly Statistics: July to September 2025, with both sets due to be published in December 2025. This is to allow for critical digital infrastructure transitions to take place in the department.
-
In alignment with previous announcements, we are undertaking work to remove official statistics status from Driver and Rider Testing statistics, following the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) assuming responsibility for producing data on these topics. We are also undertaking work to remove official statistics status from our Journey Times Statistics and the Cycling Traffic Index, following the suspension of these series.
-
Statistics previously in the department’s Walking and Cycling Statistics series are now covered solely in other publications, and as a consequence this series will now no longer appear in the list of forthcoming publications. Further information can be found on the Walking and Cycling Statistics collection page.
-
The Rail Trends 2025 release, due out on 9 December 2025, combines DfT’s Rail factsheet and the Office of Rail and Road’s Rail statistics compendium into a single release. For further information, please see the department’s Rail Statistics collection page.
-
The department will be postponing the publication of Road Conditions in England to March 2025. These statistics were originally scheduled for November 2025, they will now be published in January 2026. This is due to a data issue identified by a data provider which means some of the underlying data which informs these statistics needs to be reprocessed. It is essential this step is undertaken prior to publication to ensure the ongoing quality standards of these statistics. We are temporarily pausing the release of this publication whilst we work with the data provider to resolve this issue.
Monthly statistical releases
For reasons of brevity, the monthly release of statistics on UK international sea passengers, SPAS0107 and UK Ship Register statistics, FLE0100 are omitted from the list of forthcoming publications. These statistics are usually released on the second Wednesday of each calendar month.
The department monitors transport activity on a timelier basis for topical issues relating to transport. These are also omitted from the list of forthcoming publications as they are published monthly.
- Daily domestic transport use by mode - daily indexed indicators of usage since January 2020
- Developing faster indicators - timely indicators monitoring developing transport-related events
