  • The Data Protection Act (DPA) controls how personal information can be used and your rights to ask for information about yourself

  • You’re disabled under the Equality Act 2010 if you have a physical or mental impairment that has a 'substantial' and 'long-term' negative effect on your ability to do daily activities

  • Find legal advice to solve legal problems out of court: solicitors, pro bono lawyers, barristers, mediators and legal aid.

  • Ask your local police to give you a copy of the information they hold about you - CRB check, DBS check, proof of identity

  • It is against the law to discriminate against anyone because of their sex, religion, disability or certain other personal characteristics ('protected characteristics')
