The Prosperity Programme is the Foreign and Commonwealth’s fund to tackle climate change, strengthen energy security and promote an open global economy in key emerging economies.
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office launched the Prosperity Fund in April 2011 to tackle climate change, strengthen energy security and promote an open global economy in key emerging economies. Since its launch, the fund has supported almost 500 projects across a network of 14 countries and regions around the world.
The Fund is part of the Strategic Programme fund, which promotes action on global issues in areas of strategic importance to the UK. Current areas of focus include the Arab Partnership, commercial diplomacy, counter proliferation, counter terrorism, human rights, prosperity, bilateral programmes and the Overseas Territories.
We also operate regional funds in the Gulf, Latin America and South East Asia to widen our global reach, and work with the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) through our delegation in Paris.
The programme funding for 2013-14 has been confirmed as £19,653,000 of which £14,900,000 is ODA eligible. The vast majority of this funding will be devolved to selected posts, who will have primary responsibility for project selection and management. In addition to ODA targets, the fund has to spend over half on climate projects to meet a 2011 Ministerial commitment on maintaining climate spend.
As your first point of contact, please contact the relevant British Embassy or High Commission where funds are devolved.
