This guidance explains the legal requirements which exporters must comply with when exporting horses and ponies.

The welfare arrangements must include the veterinary inspection/examination and resting of certain horses and ponies before they are exported, unless an exemption has been granted by the Secretary of State. The document explains which type of export welfare declaration to complete.

The guidance should not be regarded as a complete statement of the law or a substitute for it.
