The British Embassy in Lisbon maintains and develops relations between the UK and Portugal.

During the ongoing situation involving coronavirus (COVID-19), the Embassy is closed to the public. We remain fully staffed, working from home, and our phone lines are open from 9am to 5pm. Outside these hours, you can connect directly to the FCO’s 24 hour Contact Centre for urgent consular assistance. If you have applied for an Emergency Travel Documents, you will be contacted by a member of staff to arrange collection.

Emergency Travel Documents can only be collected by arrangement, and you will be contacted by a member of staff to agree a collection time.

Get an emergency travel document

You can apply for an emergency travel document if you’re abroad and your passport has been lost or stolen, damaged or expired, and you can’t get a new or replacement passport in time to travel.

If the person needing the emergency travel document is under 16, a parent or guardian should apply on their behalf.
