Nigel Boud
Biography
Nigel Boud is the Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Lisbon.
Before arriving in Portugal in July 2023, Nigel was Deputy Head of China Department in the FCDO in London. He was previously Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Manila between 2015 and 2018, and Political & Economic Counsellor at the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur.
He started his career working on European issues in London followed by a posting to Nicosia, Cyprus, where he was Second Secretary Political, and High Commission Spokesperson.
Deputy Head of Mission, Portugal
The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
