These are the final statistics on road collisions and casualties for Great Britain in 2025.
Reported road casualty statistics for 2025 show a mixed picture. Fatalities continued to fall and remained below pre-pandemic levels, while the number of people killed or seriously injured (KSI) increased slightly. Casualties of all severities were broadly unchanged compared with 2024.
In reported road collisions in Great Britain in 2025, there were:
- 1,538 fatalities, a decline of 4% compared with 2024
- 29,918 killed or seriously injured (KSI) casualties, an increase of 4% compared with 2024
- 127,883 casualties of all severities, little change compared with 2024
- 4 road fatalities per billion vehicle miles travelled in 2025
Alongside the main publication and detailed road safety statistical data tables, we have updated a range of road safety factsheets and supporting data tools.
New content this year includes analysis supporting the road safety strategy, including Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs), updated analysis of road safety factors, risk behaviours and circumstances, and estimates of collisions involving driving for work. Some detailed tables and rates will be updated in September 2026 when 2025 National Travel Survey data become available.
The next reported road casualty statistics, additional analysis of 2025 data, are scheduled for publication in September 2026. Details of this publication and future developments are summarised above; any feedback can be provided via our user feedback survey.
