Chief Medical Officer: annual reports

The Chief Medical Officer, Professor Dame Sally Davies, publishes independent reports and presents them to the government.

In her annual reports, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) presents information or ‘surveillance’ about the health of England’s population to the government.

The CMO may give recommendations to government, and individual organisations, to make improvements to the health system.
