The British Embassy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo maintains and develops relations between the UK and the DRC.

As a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a major donor to the DRC, the UK supports a stable DRC at peace with its neighbours, with legitimate and effective state institutions that serve its citizens and which sees sustainable economic growth leading to improved health, education and living conditions for all Congolese citizens.

Find out more on our UK and the Democratic Republic of the Congo news page. We provide services to British nationals living in and visiting the DRC. You can access UK government services while in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

We are also responsible for the UK’s bilateral relationship with the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville) and the Central African Republic.

Development work in the DRC

The International Development Strategy (IDS) sets out a new approach to development. It does this through long-term partnerships tailored to the needs of each country the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office works with, built on mutual accountability and transparency. The Integrated Review Refresh (IR23) reiterates that sustainable development is central to UK foreign policy and sets out how the UK will go further and faster to reduce poverty.

For information on how the IDS and IR23 are being implemented in the DRC, view the UK-Democratic Republic of Congo Development Partnership Summary.

For up-to-date information on the UK’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) programme work, view the Development Tracker.
