Peter Fernandes Cardy

Biography

Peter is a UK National. In a career spanning over 25 years, Peter has provided leadership in senior advisory and management positions in regions including Africa, the Middle East, South and Central Asia. He has worked with governments, bilateral, multilateral, private sector and civil society organisations on projects, programmes and policies with particular focus on providing solutions to regional integration and implementation in fragile and conflict states.

Peter previously held posts including Deputy Development Director Afghanistan, Head of DFID Central Asia, and senior secondments to the African Development Bank, World Bank Group and the UK government’s Stabilisation Unit.  Peter is a Chartered Member of the UK Institution of Civil Engineers and holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Southampton, UK.

Peter is married and has three grown-up children.

Development Director to the DRC

The Development Director oversees the UK’s ODA budget in the DRC. They are also responsible for overseeing humanitarian capabilities and response.
