This Prosperity Fund programme promotes increased global prosperity and inclusive sustainable growth by working against corruption.

Details
Led by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, the Prosperity Fund’s Global Anti-Corruption Programme includes 9 projects delivered bilaterally, regionally and globally until March 2022. Through these projects the programme will:
- invest in introducing new policies, laws and regulations and strengthen existing ones
- increase transparency across the public sector, on beneficial ownership and procurement systems
- strengthen the investigating and recovering stolen assets
- raise awareness of the causes and impacts of corruption, including on gender and inclusion
- identify, apply and disseminate good practice approaches
The UK government published an Anti-Corruption Strategy 2017 to 2022 in December 2017. Global corruption has far-reaching impacts including:
- sustaining extreme poverty
- reducing economic activity, growth, trade and investment
- threatening international security
Working against corruption is integral to promoting a sustainable global economy where all businesses can compete fairly, and the benefits of economic growth can be shared across society.
The programme supports activity at regional and global levels and operates in 5 Prosperity Fund priority countries:
- Colombia
- Indonesia
- Malaysia
- Mexico
- South Africa
The UK is uniquely placed to play a leading role in reducing international levels of corruption. It is 1 of only 3 of the 26 least corrupt countries to have a national anti-corruption strategy and is ranked the eighth least corrupt country.
