Use this form to get help from the Environment Agency to complete your environmental permit application and if you need a heritage and nature conservation screen.

Environmental permit: pre-application advice form

The Environment Agency’s permitting service offers basic pre-application advice to help you get your permit application right first time. The basic level of pre-application advice is free.

The Environment Agency has a legal duty to screen all the activities they permit to identify those that may have a detrimental effect on heritage and nature conservation sites, protected species and habitats.

Complete and submit this online form if you want to request:

  • basic (free) or enhanced (chargeable) pre-application advice
  • a heritage and nature conservation screen

The heritage and nature conservation screen will identify if there are any protected sites, species or habitats relevant to your proposed activity. If there are, the Environment Agency will give you a map and information pack.

If you want more in depth help with your application, the Environment Agency offers an enhanced pre-application advice service. The enhanced service costs £100 an hour plus VAT.

If you cannot access the form, please contact the Environment Agency and they will send you a paper copy.
