Andrew Stunell OBE

Biography

Andrew Stunell was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Communities and Local Government from May 2010 to September 2012. He was elected Liberal Democrat MP for Hazel Grove on 1 May 1997.

Education

Andrew was educated at at Surbiton Grammar School, the University of Manchester and Liverpool Polytechnic.

Career

After an early career in architecture, he served on Stockport Council and on Cheshire County Council. He also worked as Political Secretary of the Association of Liberal Democrat Councillors (ALDC) from 1989 to 1996. Andrew was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1993.

He was formerly Chief Whip and Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government. In 2004 he steered his Private Members Act on Sustainable Buildings through Parliament.

Mr Stunell is married with 5 children.
