This statistics collection contains the Insolvency Service’s regular statistical releases on individual insolvency (people who are unable to pay debts and enter formal insolvency procedures). Publications included here are:
Individual Insolvency Statistics
Monthly statistics on individual insolvencies primarily in England and Wales, with information presented separately for Scotland and Northern Ireland due to differences in legislation and policy. Prior to March 2024, this statistics publication was released only quarterly. These historic quarterly publications can also be found on this page. A combined company and individual monthly statistics publication that was produced between April 2020 and February 2024 can be found here.
This publication is designated as accredited official statistics. The publication was independently reviewed by the Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR) in July 2024. They comply with the standards of trustworthiness, quality, and value in the Code of Practice for Statistics. Individual Insolvencies by Location, Age and Gender
This release breaks individual insolvencies down by age and gender as well as by region; county; local authority; parliamentary constituency and electoral ward in England and Wales. This release is published annually and is designated as Official Statistics.
Prior to the 2021 edition (published 1 April 2022), the parliamentary constituency supplement was published separately to the main release.
Individual Voluntary Arrangement Outcomes and Providers
Provides a breakdown on the outcomes of individual voluntary arrangements and the number of new individual voluntary arrangements registered by provider. This release is published annually and is designated as Official Statistics.
