Company insolvency statistics releases

This statistics collection contains the Insolvency Service’s statistical releases on company insolvency (companies that are unable to pay debts and enter liquidation; or enter administration or other company rescue process).

This page includes monthly statistical releases on company insolvencies in England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Prior to March 2024, this statistics publication was released only quarterly. These historic quarterly publications can also be found on this page. A combined company and individual monthly statistics publication that was produced between April 2020 and February 2024 can be found here.

This publication is designated as accredited official statistics. The publication was independently reviewed by the Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR) in July 2024. They comply with the standards of trustworthiness, quality, and value in the Code of Practice for Statistics. Further details of the OSR’s review of these statistics can be found in their published Compliance Check.

A one-off publication on Corporate Insolvencies by Size, Age and Location is also included on this page. This experimental Official Statistics release broke down enterprise insolvencies by turnover, number of employees, age and region. This publication is not consistent with the Company Insolvency Statistics release as it is on an enterprise and not a company basis. There are currently no plans to publish an updated version of this.
