The British Consulate-General in Belo Horizonte combines all HM Government activities in the region into one office. It works to build wide-ranging and mutually beneficial relations between our two governments and peoples in the areas of trade and investment, innovation, education, culture, and sport. Consular Team also provides consular assistance to British nationals who live or visit our area of coverage.

Due to coronavirus (COVID-19), the British Diplomatic Mission in Brazil is operating remotely. We have temporarily limited consular services and we are offering a reduced number of appointments for notarial services on a monthly basis. We are prioritising emergency cases, and all appointments will be confirmed in advance.

Get an emergency travel document

You can apply for an emergency travel document if you’re abroad and your passport has been lost or stolen, damaged or expired, and you can’t get a new or replacement passport in time to travel.

If the person needing the emergency travel document is under 16, a parent or guardian should apply on their behalf.

If you are travelling in more than 3 weeks, check if you can get a new or replacement passport in time to travel.

If you’re not a British citizen but think you may be eligible, contact us to apply for an emergency travel document.

The British Consulate-General Belo Horizonte does not issue emergency travel documents (ETDs). Please contact the British Consulate-General in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo or at the British Embassy in Brasilia.

Notarial and documentary services

British Diplomatic Mission in Brazil has temporarily suspended notarial services due to coronavirus (COVID-19) until further notice.

We may be able to offer notarial services, for example administer an oath, affirmation or affidavit; witness a signature; make a certified copy of a document, unite documents. Where local notaries can provide services, the British consulate will not provide them. In many cases local notaries or lawyers can provide services more cheaply, quickly and conveniently.
