How to get a charity registration certificate

What a charity registration certificate is and how to get one.

Applies to England and Wales

What a registration certificate does

To prove you are a registered charity, for example when opening a bank account or applying for a grant, you could print off (or email the web address for) your charity’s details on the register of charities.

Some funders, particularly overseas partners, ask for a registration certificate. It is a quick way to prove that you are a registered charity.
