Setting up and running a charity – guidance

Get a charity registration certificate

How to get a certificate to prove your charity is registered.

What a registration certificate does

To prove you are a registered charity, for example when opening a bank account or applying for a grant, you could print off (or email the web address for) your charity’s details on the register of charities.

Some funders, particularly overseas partners, ask for a registration certificate. It is a quick way to prove that you are a registered charity.

How to get a registration certificate

You can get your registration certificate by logging into your charity’s account on the Charity Commission online services. From there you can either:

  • print a copy of your certificate, or
  • request a copy be sent to your charity’s contact email

You will always receive two certificates, one in English and one in Welsh.
