Download and access the HMRC app to manage your details, taxes and benefits.

You can download the app for iOS and Android devices.

Get the HMRC App from the apple app store

 Get the HMRC App from the google play store

Sign in to the app

Download and open the app. Enter the details you use to sign in to HMRC online services. If you do not already have sign in details, you can create them in the app.

You’ll then be able to sign in to the app using either:

  • a 6-digit PIN

  • your fingerprint

  • facial recognition

Use the app

You can use the app to get information about your tax, National Insurance and benefits.

Manage your information

You can use the app to:

  • update your name or your address

  • choose how HMRC contacts you

  • track forms and letters you have sent to us

Manage your taxes

You can use the app to check:

  • your tax code

  • your National Insurance number and save it to your Google or Apple wallet

  • your Self Assessment Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) and find out how much tax you owe

  • your Annual Tax Summary and employment history

  • for gaps in your National Insurance record

  • if you need to report additional income from a second job, investments, or a sale or transfer of an asset

You can also use the app to:

  • make payments and set reminders to make payments

  • tell us if you no longer need to send a Self Assessment tax return

  • estimate your take-home pay on the tax calculator

  • claim a refund if you have paid too much tax

  • pay gaps in your National Insurance record

Manage your benefits

You can use the app to:

  • check your State Pension summary

  • apply for and manage Child Benefit

  • check your eligibility for, apply for and manage your Help to Save account

  8. You can now use the HRMC app to make a Simple Assessment payment, check for gaps in National Insurance contributions and also check if you can make online payments for gaps in your National Insurance contributions.

  9. If you do not have a UK address and you do not know your National Insurance number, follow the guidance to find a lost National Insurance number before trying to create a Government Gateway user ID.

  10. You can now use the HMRC app to update your name, save your National Insurance number to your digital wallet and to get help from HMRC's digital assistant.
