Submit your tax return early

You do not have to wait until January to do your 2025 to 2026 Self Assessment tax return – you can it submit now and reap the benefits of early filing.
In fact, almost 298,905 early birds submitted their tax return in the first week of the tax year.
Here’s why filing early can benefit you:
- get refund sooner: if you’re due a refund, submitting your tax return early means it can be processed sooner

- no need to pay early: filing early doesn’t mean you have to pay early, you still have until 31 January to make your payment, but it means you’ll know what you owe in advance so you can budget

- proof of income: a processed tax return can be used as proof of income for mortgages, loan applications, or benefit claims
