Detail

This report gives a detailed assessment of radioactivity in food and the environment and the public’s exposure to radiation during 2012. It shows that the public’s exposure to authorised discharges and direct radiation around the 39 nuclear sites around the UK is within legal limits.

It brings together the nationwide monitoring programmes of the environment agencies and the Food Standards Agency. These monitoring programmes are independent of, and also used as a check on, the site operators’ programmes.
