Problems launching version 24.0

HMRC are aware that some customers have been experiencing problems when trying to open BPT version 24.0.

An updated version of BPT, version 24.1, has now been published and when this update is installed, it will resolve this known problem opening BPT.

For this release only, auto-update will not work if you have already installed version 24.0 and are experiencing problems opening BPT.  You will need to download and install BPT version 24.1 by clicking on the relevant link for your operating system.

The update will be applied in the same way as if it were installed as an auto-update.

Problems downloading BPT updates

If you receive a prompt to download a BPT update (either when opening BPT or selecting ‘Check now’ in settings) and you choose to ‘Update now’, the Automatic Update software will attempt to connect to the internet and download the BPT update.

If your computer stops the file from being downloaded, you should restart your computer and download the latest version of BPT.

We recommend you create a backup of your database (using the ‘Backup your data’ function) before you download and install the update.

If you use the same options to install the update as you did when you first installed BPT the update date will install on top of the previous version.

If you have any problems you can contact HMRC’s Online Services Helpdesk for more help.
