International Women’s Day is an opportunity to champion the rights of women and girls across the world, and show the importance of women’s empowerment and leadership.

The British High Commission in Malta is teaming up with the Office of the President of Malta to do just that. If you are a girl or women #TakingTheLead in our society and would like the opportunity to be the High Commissioner or President for a day, here’s what you have to do:

  1. Think of an issue you care about in your community, or what you would want to change in the world.
  2. Explain this in a short video message, an essay or a drawing.
  3. Post your entry on the British High Commission’s Facebook or Twitter, or send it to the British High Commission via email at bhcvalletta@fco.gov.uk or by post.

This competition is open to girls and women aged 12-24 of all nationalities.

Winners will be announced on Tuesday 5 March 2019, and will have the opportunity to experience a typical day in the leadership roles of the British High Commissioner Stuart Gill or the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

Girls below the age of 18 require parental consent to participate.
