HMRC performance updates

These performance reports show HMRC's progress towards achieving its strategic objectives.

The reports provide a range of metrics which help explain how HMRC has performed against its strategic objectives, including:

  • close the tax gap
  • improve day-to-day performance and the overall customer experience
  • supporting wider government economic aims through HMRC’s work

Further metrics may be added as they are developed.

Our annual reports and accounts set out our past performance.

Starting from tax year 2025 to 2026, monthly performance reports are incorporated into the HMRC performance updates on this page and are no longer published separately. For monthly performance reports from tax year 2016 to 2017 to tax year 2024 to 2025, please see the collections page on GOV.UK.
