ESF 2007 to 2013: evaluation strategy and research

How evaluation research helps us to assess whether ESF achieves its objectives and provides evidence to improve the way it works.

This collection brings together research to evaluate the ESF operation programme in England 2007 to 2013. It also includes the evaluation strategy documents for the programme.

ESF cohort study 2012

This cohort study looks at the experience of participants who left ESF programme provision in summer 2012. It covers ESF provision funded by all ESF co-financing organisations.

The study will help us understand whether participation in ESF funded provision and outcomes are meeting the objectives of the ESF programme 2007 to 2013. It will also help us decide how we should focus any future ESF spending in the ESF programme 2014 to 2020 in England most effectively.

We’ve provided information for respondents who are participating in this survey.

The final report is due to be published in summer 2014.

ESF provision for families with multiple problems

This evaluation looks at the effectiveness of the ESF provision for families with multiple problems. The main objectives are to find out:

  • how the provision has made a difference to the lives of families
  • who has benefited
  • how the provision works
  • what aspects of the provision are most effective

The final report is due to be published in summer 2014.
