Report a bus or coach driver or the company running the service if you think they're breaking safety rules.

What you can report to DVSA
You can report a bus driver or the company running the service to DVSA if you think they’re breaking safety rules or the conditions of their driving or operator licence.
This includes:
- using vehicles that are not safe to drive
- breaking drivers’ hours rules
- tachograph offences (for example, using someone else’s tachograph card or using tachograph cheat devices)
- drivers not having the correct licence or Driver CPC
- running a bus or coach service without an operator licence
- falsifying vehicle maintenance or safety records
- using emission cheat devices
- using vehicles with illegal, altered, missing or hidden number plates
There is different guidance to:
Reporting other types of activity or crime
You cannot use this form to report:
- drivers of vehicles that are not bus or coaches
- companies that do not operate bus or coaches
- driving behaviour or criminal offences
- parking problems or local traffic issues
- medical conditions affecting a driver’s ability to drive
- customer service or general business complaints
Report driving behaviour and criminal offences
Report to the police any activity that involves:
- dangerous or aggressive driving
- drink or drug-driving
- speeding
- using a mobile phone while driving
If you’re in danger or it’s an emergency, dial 999 and ask for the police.
Report parking and local traffic problems
Report to your local council:
- parking problems (for example, blocking access, parking on pavements or double yellow lines)
- road obstructions
Customer service complaints
Complain to directly to the company if you’re unhappy with the service they have provided or you want an apology, refund or compensation.
If you’re not happy with their response:
- complain to Bus Users UK if the journey was in England (outside London), Scotland or Wales
- complain to London TravelWatch if the journey was in London
How to report an bus driver or company to DVSA
Fill in the online form to report the driver or company to DVSA.
It helps if you give your name and contact details. DVSA can then contact you if they need more information.
You do not have to give your personal details. Any information you do give will be kept private and confidential.
You do not have to provide evidence. However it can help an investigation if you include photos.

If you call anonymously:
- you will never be asked for your name or to provide contact details
- your call will not be traced
- you will not have to make a statement or be called as a witness
- you will not have to appear in court
Depending on the incident you’re reporting, it might be possible for the driver or company to work out that you reported it - even if you report it anonymously.
What happens after you have reported something to DVSA
DVSA will review the information you sent. They will decide what to do next, which could include:
- asking DVSA examiners to investigate the case
- asking you for more information if you shared your contact details
- working with other government departments and agencies or the police
DVSA cannot help with getting refunds or compensation, and cannot give feedback on an ongoing case.
