Global Clean Power Alliance

The Global Clean Power Alliance (GCPA) brings together international partners through two missions focused on accelerating the transition to clean power.

Global Clean Power Alliance

The Global Clean Power Alliance (GCPA) is an agile alliance of Global North and Global South partners, working to accelerate the global shift to clean power, including rapidly advancing electrification and strengthening energy security. With high-ambition countries and actors across industry, private finance and international organisations, the alliance focuses on two of the biggest barriers to progress: finance and supply chains.

The Alliance is delivering practical action through two missions. The Finance Mission supports scaling of private investment in clean energy in Latin America, Asia, and Africa. The Supply Chains Mission supports strengthening clean power supply chains and removing barriers to rolling out clean energy.

We will provide updates on the progress of both Missions here. If you have any enquiries, contact GCPA.Mailbox@fcdo.gov.uk.

Finance Mission

Co-led by the UK and Brazil, the GCPA Finance Mission partners with emerging markets and developing economies to help them attract the private investment needed to deliver their clean-energy ambitions.

The Finance Mission focuses on three building blocks:

  • people, connecting countries with the expertise and tools they need
  • plans, developing credible and investment-ready energy plans; and
  • projects, creating pipelines of clean-energy projects that can attract private finance

Supply Chains Mission

The GCPA Supply Chains Mission is an initiative working with partners from the Global North and Global South to identify and deliver crucial changes needed to diversify clean power supply chains, address bottlenecks, support electrification, and accelerate the transition. We are focused on four pillars (workstreams): greater data transparency, electricity transmission challenges, the importance of a global circular economy to reduce material use, and ensuring we work with and for the Global South to maximise the economic development benefits from the transition.
