About
These Economic Estimates are Official Statistics used to provide an estimate of the contribution of DCMS Sectors to the UK economy, measured by gross value added (GVA) at basic prices, imports and exports of services, employment and the number of enterprises.
This release supersedes the publication in September 2015 where an estimate for DCMS sectors was produced. It is the first time it has been possible to look at the changes over time for all DCMS sectors in a consistent way, and the first official estimates for the range of additional measures presented in this report.

These statistics cover the contributions of the following DCMS sectors to the UK economy;
- Creative Industries
- Cultural Sector
- Digital Sector
- Gambling
- Sport
- Telecoms
- Tourism
They do not currently cover the contribution of the sectors the Office for Civil Society has responsibility for (responsibility for the Office for Civil Society was transferred from Cabinet Office to DCMS on 21 July 2016).

DCMS aims to continuously improve the quality of estimates and better meet user needs. Alongside this release DCMS is consulting on the methodology used to produce these estimates and, on the definition of the Cultural Sector.
