Migration transparency data

Data on Border Force, UK Visas and Immigration, Immigration Enforcement and Passports, Citizenship and Civil Registration performance.

These documents include performance data related to migration and borders and data that has been regularly requested from the Home Office by the Home Affairs Select Committee.  

Data relating to HM Passport Office is now found in Passports, Citizenship and Civil Registration.

Border Force

Border Force transparency data: Q1 2025 (ODS, 200 KB)
This data table provides data on Border Force activities. It includes data on the clearance of passengers at the border within published service standards, as well as seizures of drugs, firearms and offensive weapons and items seized under the Convention of International Trade of Endangered Species (CITES). It also includes data on the amount of tax revenue that is protected through detecting alcohol and tobacco, carrier liaison data and annual unit cost data for processing passengers at the border.

UK Visas and Immigration

Customer service operations data: Q1 2025 (ODS, 57.1 KB)
This data table provides data on intake and performance against service standard in relation to replies to MP written correspondence for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), Immigration Enforcement, Border Force and HM Passport Office. It also includes data on performance against service standard in relation to replies to customer complaints for UKVI, Immigration Enforcement and Border Force and UKVI applicant experience survey results.

Immigration and protection data: Q1 2025 (MS Excel Spreadsheet, 2.63 MB)
This data table provides data on the quarterly and annual asylum related performance data, including the percentage of initial decisions within 6 months, the size and age of initial decisions that remain outstanding (work in progress – WIP), productivity rates, decision quality and the cost of processing an asylum application. Also included is data on appeal representation rates, human rights applications, change of conditions (no recourse to public funds), fee waivers, citizenship deprivation orders and the older live cases unit.

Asylum Support data: Q1 2025 (ODS, 688 KB)
This data table (formerly Resettlement, Asylum Support and Integration) provides data on transfers of children under the national transfer scheme, applications for support (section 4 and section 95), and the volume of travel document applications raised and despatched.

Sponsorship transparency data: Q1 2025 (ODS, 52.5 KB)
This data table provides data on the number of new sponsor applications made in each route and the number of sponsoring organisations registered to sponsor an overseas national in skilled worker, temporary worker and student routes. Also includes data on performance against service standard for processing a sponsorship application, the average length of time taken (days) to process a sponsorship application and the percentage of student sponsors with full ‘student sponsor’ status. Data on action taken against sponsors (suspensions and revocations) is also included.

Windrush Task Force data: Q1 2025 (ODS, 31.3 KB)
This data table provides data related to the work of the Windrush task force in the processing of applications from people applying for status or British citizenship.

Visas, status and immigration data: Q1 2025 (ODS, 348 KB)
This data table provides data on the volume of overseas and in-country applications received and input for each route, performance against service standard for each route and the number of applications that remain outstanding (work in progress – WIP). Also included is data on the intake and pass rate for Life in the UK Tests and the cost of each decision for all migrant applications (in country and overseas).

Immigration Enforcement

Immigration Enforcement data: Q1 2025 (ODS, 85.4 KB)
This data table provides data related to enforcement activity and performance. It includes data on the volume of foreign national offenders subject to deportation action who are living in the community, family returns data, the average cost per day to hold an individual in immigration detention, the volume of rule 35 reports in detention centres, and the number of pregnant women in detention. Also published is data on the use of force when removing people on flights from the UK and the volume and value of civil penalties issued.

Passports, Citizenship and Civil Registration

Passports and citizenship data: Q1 2025 (ODS, 53.4 KB)
This data table provides data on passports and citizenship related activities, including passport application intake volumes by month, the volume of passports issued within service standard and the number of passport applications in the system. Also included is data on British Citizenship applications received and the percentage processed within service standards, and the number of applications that remain outstanding (work in progress – WIP).

General Register Office (Civil Registration) transparency data: Q1 2025 (ODS, 37.9 KB)
This data table provides data relating to civil registration activities for example, birth, adoption, death, entries into the Gender Recognition Register, marriage and civil partnership certificates.

Transaction Explorer data

Home Office data: Q1 2025 (ODS, 52.3 KB)
This data table provides data on controlled drugs and precursor chemicals: domestic licences issued and compliance activities. Also included is a range of data on the volume of status checks for landlords and tenants under right to rent, and employers and job seekers under right to work, as well as the volume of view and prove status checks for migrants and checkers.
