This letter outlines the Secretary of State for Transport’s decision about the proposed Network Rail (Tinsley Chord) order.
The order would authorise Network Rail to:
- construct and operate a 170 metre length of track at Tinsley
- connect the Executive’s Sheffield Supertram system the Sheffield to Rotherham railway (the Tinsley Chord)
- compulsory acquire the land and extinguish rights of access for the purposes of the scheme
The Tinsley Chord would enable the operation of ‘tram-trains’ between Sheffield and Rotherham.
