Amendment 2 updates guidance following the implementation of the MLC 2022 Amendments into UK legislation by amending “the MLC Minimum Requirements Regulations”, with reference to Standard A3.2 Food and Catering. The addition of the wording ‘balanced’ is to ensure that seafarers have access not only to adequate, varied and nutritious meals, but also to a balanced diet. In the UK this means eating a wide variety of foods in the right proportions and consuming the right amount of food and drink to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.
