This guidance on environmental protection considerations for hydropower development has been incorporated into ‘Guidance for run-of-river hydropower development’ (LIT 4122) and the guidance on ‘Competing hydropower schemes’ (LIT 7517). These are no longer published on GOV.UK but are available on request by contacting The Environment Agency.

This guidance aims to help developers with applications for low head hydropower schemes.
