Report of the Independent Investigation Committee, led by Professor Griffin, on the 2009 E. coli O157 outbreak at Godstone Farm in Surrey.
In August and September 2009, an outbreak of E. coli O157 led to severe illness in a number of visitors to Godstone Farm in Surrey. The Health Protection Agency (HPA), now part of Public Health England, established an independent investigation of the outbreak, including:
- the factors that contributed to it
- how it was handled
The investigation’s report (The Griffin Report) made recommendations to a variety of organisations to reduce the risk of future farm-related E. coli O157 outbreaks.
In response to the report, the HPA set up a multi-agency committee to address the recommendations.
