Driving instructor code of practice

How approved driving instructors should behave in their personal conduct and business dealings, including advertising their services and settling disputes.

Applies to England, Scotland and Wales

The code of practice is voluntary for approved driving instructors (ADIs) to follow. It sets out how ADIs should:

  • behave in their personal conduct and business dealings
  • advertise their services
  • settle disputes with their pupils

Update your ADI registration to confirm you agree to follow the code.

If you’re learning to drive, you can complain about a driving instructor if you’re not happy with their service or behaviour.
