Driving instructor code of practice

The approved driving instructor (ADI) code of practice sets out how ADIs should behave with their pupils.

The code of practice is voluntary for ADIs to follow. It sets out how ADIs should:

  • behave in their personal conduct and business dealings
  • advertise their services
  • settle disputes with their pupils

You can update your ADI registration to show that you agree to follow the code.

If you’re learning to drive, you can complain about a driving instructor if you’re not happy with their service or behaviour.
