Details

The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership is a free trade agreement that was signed on 8 March 2018 in Santiago, Chile. The 11 original signatories were:

  • Australia
  • Brunei Darussalam
  • Canada
  • Chile
  • Japan
  • Malaysia
  • Mexico
  • New Zealand
  • Peru
  • Singapore
  • Vietnam

The CPTPP has now entered into force for all the above countries. The CPTPP itself builds on, and incorporates, most of the provisions of the original TPP though certain provisions of the TPP were suspended upon entry into force of CPTPP. Those provisions are explicitly identified for suspension in the CPTPP. This means that all chapters contained in the TPP are part of the CPTPP.

Certain provisions of the CPTPP are modified for the UK by the accession protocol. This means that the CPTPP should be read together with the accession protocol.
