UK HPI development plan amended to record updating of Quality Assurance of Administrative Data and ‘Comparing house prices indices in the UK’ documents.
Status changed from Official Statistic to National Statistic.
Section 3 of 'Comparing house price indices in the UK' has been amended to extend the series in figures 2 and 3 to 2017 and include additional content explaining the differences between the UK HPI and the Nationwide HPI. Sections 1.1, 1.5, 2.1, 2.9, 3.4 and 3.6 of 'Quality and methodology' have been extended to include additional information on the methodological improvement implemented in December 2017 and its impact on the UK HPI estimates.
We added a document about the UK HPI development plan to share the improvements we have already made and the areas we want to develop over the next 3 years.
To reflect changes to our action plan for UK HPI we have updated: “UK House Price Index Quality Assurance of Administrative Data”: section 1 – Executive Summary and section 5 - Action plan-Table 4
To reflect our current service standards, we have updated: section 4.4 of 'About the UK House Price Index', sections 1 and 4 of 'UK House Price Index Quality Assurance of Administrative Data' and section 2.2 of 'Quality and methodology' documents.
Information about "Improvement to the calculation of provisional estimates within the UK HPI" replaced by the "Quality and methodology" document. Guidance ‘About the UK House Price Index’ updated with a section 1.2 added. Section 4, section 4.1 and 4.2 also updated to reflect the new quality and methodology document.

Section 1.1 updated to reflect the removal of the UK HPI experimental status. Section 10: the Office for National Statistics announced publication changes for prices statistics from April 2018. We have updated the UK HPI publication calendar to reflect this.
