About us

Dounreay is responsible for the safe and secure clean-up of the Dounreay nuclear site.

Dounreay Site Restoration Limited (DSRL) is the site licence company responsible for the clean-up and demolition of Britain’s former centre of fast reactor research and development.

DSRL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Cavendish Dounreay Partnership, a consortium of Cavendish Nuclear, Jacobs and AECOM. It is funded by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) to deliver the site closure programme.

The experimental nature of many of its redundant facilities means the clean-up and demolition requires innovation as well as great care. The intention is to decommission Dounreay and leave it in a safe condition for future generations.

The skills and enterprise it fosters are giving Scottish companies a platform to compete in the global decommissioning market.
