This role is shared between the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the Department for Health (DH).

Responsibilities at the Department of Health include:

  • NICE and MHRA
  • regenerative medicine
  • research and development
  • specialised commissioning
  • uptake of new drugs and med tech

Responsibilities at BIS include:

  • agritech strategy
  • life sciences industrial strategy
