Industrial Energy Transformation Fund

The Industrial Energy Transformation Fund (IETF) supports the development and deployment of technologies that enable businesses with high energy use to transition to a low carbon future.

The Industrial Energy Transformation Fund (IETF) is designed to help businesses with high energy use to cut their energy bills and carbon emissions through investing in energy efficiency and low carbon technologies. The government announced £315 million of funding in the 2018 Budget, available up until 2025.

BEIS manages the IETF for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, with £289 million to invest over consecutive application windows split into 2 phases.

IETF Phase 2

Phase 2 expands the IETF scope to additionally support the deployment of decarbonisation technologies. It will provide around £220 million in funding between Autumn 2021 and 2025.

We are holding 2 further Phase 2 competition rounds in 2022. The Phase 2: Summer 2022 competition closes on 9 September.

We are assessing the Phase 2: Autumn 2021 and Spring 2022 applications.

We will continue to review the Fund design and delivery to take feedback into account and ensure the success of the programme. The guidance may change so please visit the relevant page for the current competition.

The policy statement outlines the Phase 2 structure and design.
