Jaison was discharged from the army with post traumatic stress disorder and referred to Remploy to help the move back into civilian life.

Jaison Hamer served in war-torn hotspots, including Kosovo and Iraq, during an eventful five- year army career. But when he was medically discharged with post traumatic stress disorder in 2010, the 22-year-old from Swindon had to contemplate a dramatic career change.
Jaison was referred to Remploy by Career Transition Partnership (CTP), a Ministry of Defence backed programme that helps injured Service men and women make the sometimes difficult move back into civilian life.
‘I hadn’t had to apply for jobs all the time I was in the army, so the first thing my Remploy Employment Advisor did was help me put together a CV,’ said Jaison who, with Remploy’s help, quickly secured a work placement at the Royal Mail in Swindon.
‘I really enjoyed the two weeks I worked there and was delighted when a vacancy for a full-time postman became available,’ added Jaison, who is now 3 months into his Royal Mail career. ‘I’ve built a good relationship with customers on my round and my colleagues at the depot are very friendly and helpful.’
Remploy’s specialist services are designed to support people with disabilities and other health conditions into sustainable work and through its partnership with CTP it is now providing a range of tailored services for Service personnel including, training and skills development, confidential one-to-one advice, access to the latest job vacancies and ongoing support when a candidate is in work.
‘It was a pleasure to work with Jaison and I am delighted he is progressing so well in his new job,’ said Remploy Employment Advisor Simon Johnson, who supported Jaison with his job search. ‘He had been through a tough time before leaving the army and it was important that he moved into work where he would receive encouragement and the right level of support, which is what he is getting at the Royal Mail.’
