State of emergency

Following an increase in gang violence, a one-month state of emergency was declared in parts of Belize City, the Belize District, and the Cayo District on 7 May 2025. The state of emergency grants law enforcement expanded powers and could be extended. Follow the advice of the local authorities and monitor local media.
