General immigration enquiries
Contact UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) if you need help with a problem.
Before you contact UKVI
Contact centre staff cannot give you advice about your personal circumstances.
For example, they cannot tell you:
- what to apply for - you can read UKVI’s online guides or find an immigration adviser
- when you will get a decision - you can check the visa processing times
- whether your application will be successful
You may be able to get free immigration advice at your local Citizens Advice.
You do not usually need to contact UKVI if you only need to:
- replace a biometric residence permit (BRP) with an eVisa
- replace a visa ‘vignette’ (sticker or stamp) in a passport
Tell UKVI about a change
You can usually use an online service or form to tell UKVI your details have changed. For example, if you have changed your name, address or the passport you use to travel.
How you tell UKVI depends on if you have:
