Check you’re eligible before you apply.

If you get Universal Credit you cannot get a Budgeting Loan. You’ll need to apply for a Budgeting Advance instead.

You must use the paper form if you’re an appointee applying on behalf of someone else.

There’s a different way to apply in Northern Ireland.

If you apply online, you’ll be told whether you’ve been offered a loan within 20 working days. If you accept the loan offer, you’ll then receive the money within 12 working days.

The loan is paid into your bank, building society or credit union account.
