We maintain and develop relations between the UK and Morocco. The British Embassy in Rabat provides services to British nationals living in and visiting Morocco.

We are responsible for all aspects of bilateral relations between the British and Moroccan governments, and for informing the British government about developments in Morocco. We deal with political, commercial, security and economic questions of interest to the UK and Morocco.

The embassy and its consular sections in Rabat, Tangier and Marrakech look after the interests of British people living in, or visiting, Morocco. The Consulate-General in Casablanca, together with the economic and commercial section of the embassy, provides a wide range of services to British and Moroccan business and investment.

We manage projects in partnership with the Moroccan government and civil society, which aim to support Morocco’s political reform process. The British Council handles cultural and educational affairs.

You can access UK government services while in Morocco.

Urgent assistance

If you’re in Morocco and you need urgent help (for example, you’ve been attacked, arrested or someone has died), call +212 (0) 537 633 333. If you’re in the UK and worried about a British national in Morocco, call 020 7008 1500.

Get an emergency travel document

You can apply for an emergency travel document if you’re abroad and your passport has been lost or stolen, damaged or expired, and you can’t get a new or replacement passport in time to travel.

If your passport has been stolen you will need to get a police report. You may need to show this to the immigration authorities in order to leave Morocco. You can get a police report from the nearest police station to the place where your passport was lost or stolen. You can’t get a police report in a different city.

If you are due to travel in the next 24 hours, contact us as soon as possible.

Apply online for an emergency travel document if you:

  • are over 16 years old and
  • are a British citizen and
  • have previously owned a British passport

Contact us to apply for an emergency travel document if you are:

  • over 16 years old but have not owned a British passport before or
  • not a British citizen or
  • applying for a child under 16 years old

Once you have contacted us, you will be advised to make an appointment to apply for an emergency travel document.
