There is no British Embassy in Maldives. The British High Commission in Sri Lanka develops and maintains relations between the UK and Maldives.

We deal with a wide range of political, commercial, security and economic questions of interest to the UK and Sri Lanka and Maldives. There is no British diplomatic mission in Maldives. All assistance to Maldives is provided by the British High Commission in Colombo. The High Commission in Colombo provides consular assistance to British nationals in both Sri Lanka and Maldives. An Honorary Consul in the capital, Malé, liaises with the British High Commission in Colombo on emergency consular matters.

Get an emergency travel document

How to renew or replace your British passport if you live outside the UK and information on getting replacement travel documents if your passport is lost or stolen. If you are travelling urgently and your passport is not available, you may be able to apply for an emergency travel document (ETD).

If your passport has been lost you will need a police report and English translation before an ETD can be issued.
