Pay your tax bill by Direct Debit

Set up a Direct Debit payment with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

Online services may be slow during busy times. Check if there are any current problems with HMRC services, or times they won’t be available.

Start now

Before you start

Pay your tax bill by Direct Debit if you have an online account with HMRC for:

  • Self Assessment
  • employers’ PAYE and National Insurance
  • Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) deductions
  • VAT
  • Corporation Tax
  • Machine Games Duty
  • Soft Drinks Industry Levy

You can also make ‘miscellaneous’ payments (with a payment reference beginning with ‘X’) if you have an online account with HMRC for one of these taxes.

If you don’t have an account, sign up as an organisation or an individual.

You must be the authorised signatory on the account you want to make payments from. It must be a UK bank account.

Changes

You can also change an existing Direct Debit or arrange a new one.

You can only make changes to a VAT Direct Debit if you’ve signed up for Making Tax Digital for VAT.
